Making Personal Time Mandatory

Time for ourselves is usually the last thing we think about. Our lives are always so busy and it seems like we need free time just to catch up on those relentless to-do-lists. Forget about relaxing. But we really need to learn to put ourselves first sometimes and that is what today's Blog Challenge is all about. What is one thing you will do on a regular basis to get more "me time" this year?

Granted I already carve out time to exercise, read, write, mediate and practice guitar but those things are really tasks I give myself in order to achieve larger goals like getting in better shape and learning about a country I want to visit- it's the goal that I'm after and even though the activities are enjoyable I don't choose to do them for the mere satisfaction alone.

So what is me time then? I think me time could mean alone time which I have been known to seek out randomly to the confusion of those around me. One weekend on a whim I up and drove 6 hours away to try hang-gliding.

But those trips can't happen as often as I would like and since leaving my job I work alone for hours on my computer planning my next steps, so me time is more than just being alone. I think it should also require getting "un-plugged" and turning off all the distracting electronics. I think it means doing something more organic for the pure sake of enjoyment and nothing else.

When I think of this I think of MASSAGES. Let me tell you, if you've never had a professional massage you are seriously missing out. They're amazing and after hours of working on the computer there is nothing better. And now Natalie wants us to actually commit to me time and make it happen regularly I can't wait to get started with monthly massages.

What about the Bootstrapping. I have a trick for this one too. Massages around here, good ones are usually between $65 and $75, but there's a massage school close by and you can schedule 1 hour full body massages with their clinic for 25 bucks. I think I can cough up $25 a month for myself, and I'm scheduling my appointment tomorrow. This Blog Challenge thing is awesome.
