The Blog Challenge Wrap Up
It's the last day of Natalie's Blog Challenge! I wanted to do a video but I'm in pajama mode and there's no turning back.
I just read through all of my past posts and the topic that really had the biggest impact on me was Blog Challenge number 5, where we chose one bad habit to eliminate. Being a solo-preneur can be really isolating and I'm introverted as it is, but it wasn't helping me to add adventure to my life or grow my business. So I ended up creating my own challenge to talk to one new person every day for the remaining 10 days, and I did it. I went to an event once a week and talked to a new person every day and I loved it. I've met some amazing people, I feel happier and everyone I talk to really takes a huge interest in my photography.
Last night I went to a local "Hackerspace" where I met programmers, drone builders and ice sculpters alike. They hosted speaker Matthew Lesko, who specializes in locating government grants and free money. He took a huge interest in my photography and even offered to help me find new opportunities. They wrapped up the night by exploding ice sculptures with fireworks and now I'm hooked.
Today I set up a business account at the local bank which has always been a chore, but again my banker was incredibly sweet and genuine and was totally impressed by the fact that I quit my job and was making ends meet on my own. She said that I had "balls of steel" and was thrilled to hand my business cards out to other clients. I feel like ever since I started making this effort my luck has changed drastically.
From here I'm going to keep going to events, talking to strangers and blogging but my focus will shift onto creating digital products. I'll be busy making some changes to the website, setting up social media platforms and more but I'll still be posting here at least once a week. Keep an eye out for some fun photography tutorials like time lapse and slow motion. Your feedback is always greatly appreciated and I'd love to know about any topics you all would want covered.
Natalie is going to be offering up her Freedom Plan again soon and I totally recommend it. I took it a few months ago and I've been hard at work putting all the principals into action- you'll see changes in the website as a result. If you want to learn how to start a business that liberates your time and allows you to chase adventures then this is the class for you. The Facebook group alone is like a support network of like-minded people all over the world, and it's important for us free spirits to get all the support we can. Thanks for the challenge Natalie!
